Joining CardAnalyzer.com gives you access to information about thousands of poker players.
They have compiled a huge database which you can access immediately. The most important
stats are displayed at the poker table and are updated live while you are playing.
You can also analyze your own stats after playing by examining Sklansky groups, for example.
The system also keeps track of all your sessions, creating a graph so you can see
how successfully you have been playing. Additionally, tutoring is supported which means that you can help
- or get help - from friends! No need to download email histories, as the software "knows" what happens at
the table. Truly helpful software which is surprisingly cheap.
Poker Tracker - $55
Poker Tracker helps you analyze your own play. You can see a lot of
statistics about your play, including: how often you see the flop, how you play depending on your
position, keep track of sessions, track your opponents and compare how you do at short-handed
tables as opposed to full tables. The program gives you a lot of data but it is up to you to
analyze it and draw your own conclusions. The program gets better when you learn how to
interpret all data. A pretty good buy with the biggest shortcoming being that you only get
access to your own hands - so it will take quite some time to build up a useful database.
Turbo Texas Hold'em - $89.95
Turbo Texas Holdem is a great tool that lets you practise against computer opponents.
You are able to create players with individual playing styles. This is very useful especially if
you, for example, have difficulties winning against extremely loose players. Set up a loose table
full with maniacs and see how you do. The program will tell you what you did wrong and how you
should have played instead! Great tool for learning how to play and to evaluate your game. The program
has no support for analysing online play or analysis of opponennts - you will need another program for this.
PokerStat - $65
PokerStat helps you analyze your own play as well as your
opponents. You have to request email history regularly as you play to get the information into the
program. Some of the information that you can extract from the program: opponent's result, your net result,
average big bets and
see what time of the day that is most profitable for you. Unfortunately the user interface is quite
hard to understand and it is not easy to find what you actually are looking for. We would probably recommend
that you stay away from this software and choose one of the other softwares that we have reviewed.
